RecReview works as a connector in AI apps such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. Once it’s connected, you can ask about your work in plain language and have the app act for you, without opening RecReview.
Everything goes through one address: https://rec.review/mcp. It uses the MCP standard (Model Context Protocol), which is how these apps connect to outside tools.
Before you start: the connector needs a paid plan (Creator, Pro or Studio). The free trial doesn’t include it. If you’re a client of a production company, you connect through that company’s plan.
Who can connect, and what they see
- Team members of a production company act with their own role in the workspace. The app sees and changes only what you can see and change in RecReview.
- Client contacts see only what their client portal shows: their own deliveries, comments and verdicts.
What the AI app can do
It can read:
- tasks, statuses and deadlines
- versions and their review comments, with timecodes
- AI Review findings
- tracked time: your own, or the whole team’s if you’re an owner or admin
With write access, it can also:
- add comments
- change tasks and create new ones
- record a client’s verdict that came in by e-mail, call or WhatsApp
Clients can see their deliveries, comment, and approve a version or request changes.
Approving, delivering or moving a task to another stage takes an extra confirmation step before it happens.
The app can’t upload videos and can’t delete anything.
Connect from Claude
Custom connectors need a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). On Team and Enterprise, an owner may need to allow them first.
- In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://rec.review/mcpas the URL and save. - Click Connect and sign in to RecReview (the steps are under Sign in and approve below).
Once connected, it also works in the Claude mobile app and in Cowork. The mobile app can’t add a new connector: add it on the web or desktop first.
In Claude Code, run:
claude mcp add --transport http recreview https://rec.review/mcp
Connect from ChatGPT
Until RecReview is listed in ChatGPT’s directory, add it as a custom MCP app on ChatGPT on the web:
- In ChatGPT’s settings, open the apps/connectors area and turn on developer mode (on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin has to allow it).
- Add a custom app with the URL
https://rec.review/mcpand OAuth as the authentication. - Sign in to RecReview when ChatGPT asks.
Full support, including actions that change things, is available on Business, Enterprise and Edu. On Pro, custom connectors can only look things up. Menu names change often: if you don’t find them, search ChatGPT’s help for “developer mode”.
Connect from Gemini
Gemini CLI: run the command below and sign in to RecReview in the browser window that opens.
gemini mcp add --transport http recreview https://rec.review/mcp
Gemini Enterprise: custom MCP servers there need an OAuth client ID and secret set up by an admin. Contact RecReview support to set this up.
Connect from Microsoft Copilot Studio
In your agent, add an MCP tool, enter https://rec.review/mcp as the server URL and choose OAuth as the authentication. Sign in to RecReview when Copilot asks.
Note: A RecReview listing in the Claude and ChatGPT directories is coming. Once it’s there, connecting will be just search for RecReview → Connect, with no URL to paste.
Sign in and approve
When the app asks you to connect, a RecReview page opens:
- Sign in the way you normally do: e-mail code, password, Google or Microsoft.
- Check the consent screen. It shows the app’s name, the account you’re signing in with, the permissions the app is asking for and the site you’ll return to.
- If you only want the app to look things up, check Allow read-only.
- Approve. You’re sent back to the AI app, now connected.
Tip: If the site you’ll return to isn’t the AI app you just came from, don’t approve.
Things to ask
For a team:
- “What is waiting for client approval this week?”
- “Summarize what the client asked to change in v2 of Launch video.”
- “Which comments from v1 were not addressed in v2?”
For a client:
- “Which of my videos are waiting for my review?”
- “Approve the latest version of Launch video.”
Your data
When you use the connector, the data the AI app asks for (task titles, comment text, deadlines, names of the people working on them and so on) is sent to that AI provider: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or Microsoft. From there it’s handled under that provider’s terms. RecReview doesn’t receive your conversation with the AI.
Task changes and verdicts the team records through the app show up in the task activity with the app’s name, for example “(via Claude)”. All access is logged for security.
See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Disconnect an app
- Team members: open Settings → Devices and disconnect the app.
- Clients: open Connected AI apps and disconnect it there.
Connections also end on their own:
- at most 90 days after you signed in
- when you change or reset your password
- when you sign out of all devices
To use the app again after that, connect again and sign in.
