The AI review is requested at upload — either with the AI Analysis switch on that upload, or automatically when the workspace has Automatic AI review enabled. A video uploaded without it can get one later, from the video’s comments. Everything after that happens on its own.
The order of events
- Upload. Your file goes up. This is most of what the progress bar is doing.
- Watchable. The moment the upload lands, the video plays. You can open it, comment with timecodes and share the link while the rest runs.
- Preparation. The video is measured and prepared for the review.
- Review. The AI goes through the video. The panel shows AI analyzing… while it runs.
- Done. The bar fills and the status becomes Analysis complete. The findings appear in the timeline.
For a typical delivery the report is ready in minutes, not hours. How long depends mostly on the length of the video.
Reading the status

Note: “Ready” is about the video, not the report. It is deliberate that a video becomes watchable and shareable before the review ends — nobody should wait on a technical check to send a cut to an editor.
While it runs
- Comments, versions and sharing all work normally.
- The findings show up as soon as the main analysis finishes. A few keep being refined on screen for a little while after — a more exact timestamp, for example — with no need to reload.
- A new version is a new review. Uploading v2 does not re-run it on v1.
- On a new version, the review also checks the comments left on the previous cut, when there are any. See Check the previous version’s requests.
- New versions of the same video finish faster: when the task has a script, the script check focuses on what changed instead of repeating the whole script.
Run the AI Review after uploading
If a video went up without AI Analysis, or its review did not finish, you can start it from the review page:
- Open the video and go to its comments.
- At the top of the list, a card reads This video has no AI Review. Click Run AI Review.
- The card switches to AI Review in progress, with the progress. You can keep working — the issues show up in the comments when it is done.
If the last attempt failed, the card reads The AI Review did not finish and the button is Try again.
The card appears for the person who uploaded the video and for Owner, Admin and Editor roles. It uses the workspace’s AI minutes like any other review; when they run out, a message says Your workspace is out of AI minutes. The card does not appear on a video that already has a finished report, nor while a video is still processing.
If it does not finish
A review that fails leaves the video usable — you lose the report, not the file. See The AI review didn’t finish for the causes and what to do.
