Transcription and the script check

Updated September 2, 20262 min read

A video that goes through AI Review and has an audio track is transcribed automatically. The transcript is word-level: every word carries its own timestamp.

Use the transcript

  1. Open the video and go to the Transcript tab.
  2. Click any word — the player jumps to that exact moment.
  3. Use Search transcript… to find a phrase, and Auto-scroll to keep the text following playback.
  4. Edit lets you fix what the transcription misheard; it is then marked as edited.
  5. Export saves it as SubRip (SRT), WebVTT (VTT), plain text or structured data (JSON).

If a video has no transcript — it never went through AI review, or you turned the review off — the tab offers Generate Transcription. Pick a Language or leave Automatic (detect from speech), and it runs in a few minutes.

Note: The video owner and any member of the workspace can generate a transcription. Identified visitors can too, but only when the workspace enables Visitor transcriptions in Workspace Settings → Client portal, under Visitors.

The script check

When the task behind the video has a script attached, the AI review compares what is actually spoken against that script and flags the divergences as findings, with their timecode.

To attach one:

  1. Open the task.
  2. In the script area, click Add script.
  3. Upload a file (PDF, DOC(X), PPT(X), TXT or RTF) or use Link from Google Drive.

Attach the script before you upload the cut. The review reads the script that exists at the moment it runs — attaching it afterwards does not re-run it on the video.

What the comparison is good for

  • A line that was cut, skipped or improvised.
  • A name, price or legal disclaimer that changed between script and delivery.
  • A version that drifted from the approved copy after several rounds of notes.

It is a check, not a verdict: a deliberate rewrite on set shows up as a divergence too. Read it as “these lines differ”, not “these lines are wrong”.

Frequently asked questions

Which language does it transcribe?
It detects the spoken language on its own. Language is set to Automatic (detect from speech) by default; pick a language explicitly if the audio is hard to detect.
Does the transcript cost extra AI minutes?
Not when it comes with the AI review — those minutes were already charged. Generating a transcript by hand on a video that never went through the review does consume minutes for the video's duration.
