RecReview runs in the browser. There is no plugin to install and no minimum machine spec worth quoting — if the browser is current, it works.
Browsers
Any modern browser, kept up to date: Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox, on macOS, Windows or Linux. Chrome and Safari are the most tested.
Two things break more often than the browser itself:
- An old tab. A page left open for days runs old code. Hard-reload before you report anything.
- Extensions. Ad blockers, privacy extensions and corporate proxies stop video from loading. Test in a private window with extensions off. In Safari, also turn content blockers off for the site.
Safari plays the streaming format natively, while the other browsers use a player script the page loads — which is why a blocked script shows up as “won’t play” in Chrome but not in Safari, and vice versa.
Connection
Playback quality follows your connection on its own — leave Quality on Automatic unless you want to pin a resolution. Uploads are the demanding half: a large master over a weak uplink takes as long as the uplink allows.
On a managed or corporate network, ask IT to allow *.rec.review and *.b-cdn.net. That is the permanent fix, and the line to forward to them.
Mac app and phones
The Mac app is optional — the same product in a native window, with watch folders and system notifications. There is no app to install on a phone or tablet: open the link in the phone’s browser.
