Every portal event produces a notification in the client’s bell. Only some of them also become an email. Read this when a client says they got too many emails, or none.
What lands in the bell
- New deliveries: a video, photo gallery, script or production plan shared with the client.
- Comments: a reply to their comment, a mention of their name, or a new comment on a video.
The bell belongs to each contact, and it only exists on portals set to Verified login.
What becomes an email
Notifications that pile up go out as one email listing the most recent items, with a line pointing to the portal for the rest. In practice:
- Only recent activity is emailed. Older items stay in the bell.
- A busy day becomes a handful of emails, not one per event.
- A delivery you just sent is never held back.
Who receives what
Delivery-type events — new video, gallery, script, plan and new comments — are emailed to the client’s primary contacts only. Everyone else still sees them in the bell. That is what keeps a client with eight contacts from getting eight inboxes full of the same delivery.
Addressed events are different: a reply to your comment, or a mention of your name, is emailed to that person whether they are primary or not.
If a client has no primary contact at all, every active contact receives the emails.
Each email is written in the contact’s own language, taken from their portal profile.
Let a contact tune it
The contact controls this themselves:
- In the portal, open the avatar menu and click My profile.
- Open the Notifications tab.
- Toggle New deliveries or Comments and mentions.
- Click Save changes.
A category turned off stops both the email and the bell entry.
Note: A contact you deactivate in the People tab receives nothing, whatever their preferences say.
