Delete a task

Updated September 2, 20262 min read

Deleting a task is permanent. The one decision that matters is what happens to its videos: they can go with the task, or stay in the workspace unlinked so you can attach them elsewhere.

Delete one task

  1. Open the task and click the ··· menu at the top of the panel.
  2. Choose Delete Task.
  3. If the task has videos, pick one option:
    • Delete task only — the videos stay in the system with no linked task.
    • Delete task and videos — the task and every attached video are deleted permanently.
  4. Click Delete.

A task with no videos skips step 3 and just asks you to confirm.

Warning: Delete task and videos cannot be undone. If you only wanted the task gone, choose Delete task only — the footage stays and can be linked to another task later.

Delete several tasks

  1. Select the tasks. Hold Ctrl/Cmd to add to the selection.
  2. In the actions bar, click Delete.
  3. Confirm.

A bulk delete always keeps the videos. Only the tasks go.

There is no task archive

A task is either active or deleted. If your goal is to get finished work out of the way, use one of these instead:

  • Move the task to a status marked Final, then turn on Delivered and cancelled go last in the Filter panel so it drops to the bottom of every list.
  • Set the phase to Finished or Cancelled.
  • Filter the board down to the statuses you are actually working on.

Clients are different: they can be archived, which keeps their whole history while taking them out of the everyday lists.

What’s next

See how archiving a client differs from deleting one in Organize work with clients and projects, and how statuses close work without removing it in Work the kanban board and edit your statuses.
