The bell in the header collects what happened while you were working: new comments, task changes, reviews, uploads and access requests. The badge counts what you haven’t read.
Read and act on notifications
- Click the bell in the header. The Notifications panel opens.
- Switch between the All and Unread tabs.
- Look under Needs your action first — those items expect something from you. The rest sit under Recent.
- Use the action on a notification — Reply, View task, View video or Open — to go straight to the right place.
Mark all as read clears the badge without opening each one. Dismiss removes a single notification from the list.
Notifications arrive live. If the connection drops you’ll see “Connection lost — reconnecting”, and new items may not appear until it comes back.
Choose what reaches you
- Open the avatar menu in the top-right corner and click Settings.
- Go to the Notifications tab.
- Turn Email on or off. It controls the Daily email summary.
- Toggle the categories you care about: Comments, Tasks, Reviews, Uploads, Access and Automations.
These settings are yours, not the workspace’s. Each member decides independently.
Browser and system notifications
On the same tab:
- Browser notifications reach you even with the app closed. Your browser asks for permission the first time. If you blocked it before, the row reads Blocked by browser and you have to allow it in your browser’s site settings.
- System notifications show when the desktop app is in the background. Use Settings to open your system’s notification preferences and Test to fire a sample.
Tip: Use Test after enabling either one. If nothing shows up, the permission is still blocked in your browser or your system — not in RecReview.
What’s next
Notifications tell you something changed. To see exactly what changed and who changed it, see See who changed what on a task.
